My approach to therapy
In my practice, I believe that every person’s journey is unique—and so should be the approach to therapy. My role is to support you as we explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences, helping you better understand yourself and uncover the tools you need to navigate life’s challenges. Together, we’ll work to create meaningful and lasting change.
A Safe and Supportive Space
In our sessions, I strive to create an atmosphere where you feel safe, respected, and heard. Therapy is your space to explore anything that’s on your mind, free from judgment. I’m here to guide you, but I see you as the expert in your own life. Together, we’ll focus on your needs, whether it’s short-term support for a specific issue or long-term therapy for personal growth.
Cultural Sensitivity
Having lived and worked in multiple countries, I’m deeply aware of the complexities that come with navigating cultural differences, life transitions, and identity changes. I’m here to support you through those adjustments, understanding the unique challenges that arise when balancing different cultural perspectives.
Tailored to You
There’s no one-size-fits-all in therapy. I believe in adapting our sessions to what resonates most with you. Throughout our work together, I draw from a range of therapeutic techniques to ensure you receive the support that fits your unique needs and goals.
Some of the approaches I use include Person-Centered Therapy , were we focus on your unique experiences, giving you the space to explore your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental environment and Solution-Focused Therapy, for those moments when you want to focus on immediate solutions, we’ll work together to set goals and find practical ways to make positive changes in your life. ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Gestalt Therapy, Art Therapy, Mindfulness, and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) are also approaches used. Each of these methods offers different tools to help you understand and manage your thoughts, emotions, and experiences in new ways. Whether we're focusing on understanding emotions, working through past experiences, or finding practical solutions to current challenges, we'll explore what works best for you.
Here’s a brief overview of some of the approaches we may explore in more detail throughout our sessions:
Acceptance Commitement Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), teaches people to accept and handle their difficult feelings instead of avoiding or overreacting to them. By understanding that these feelings are normal reactions to life's challenges, individuals can better manage their emotions and make positive changes in their behavior. The goal is to build resilience by gaining deeper self-awareness and moving forward confidently.
Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT)
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) integrates talk therapy with behavioural techniques, with a primary focus on reshaping negative thought patterns into more positive ones. The goal of CBT is to enhance individuals' coping skills by replacing negative thoughts with more constructive and adaptive ones. By changing the way individuals think, CBT promotes positive actions and behaviors, equipping them with effective tools and coping strategies to confront life's challenges.
Mindfullness
Mindfulness is the practice of breaking free from the 'automatic pilot' mode that often governs our busy lives. It involves consciously stepping out of routine and taking time to be fully present in the moment. For example, when was the last time you took a brief moment in the morning to check in with yourself and your emotions? Mindfulness encourages us to observe both ourselves and our surroundings without being overwhelmed by future plans or worries. It reminds us that life unfolds in the present moment, and through mindfulness, we can experience it more fully and authentically.
Art Therapy
I believe in embracing creativity as a means of expression, which is why I incorporate Art therapy techniques such as painting, singing, playing instruments, writing, drawing, or role play. These methods provide alternative avenues for you to explore and express your emotions and inner thoughts in a nonverbal way. Through the creative process, clients uncover hidden feelings and insights, and together with the therapists, interpret the symbols and metaphors present in their artwork. This unique form of therapy provides individuals with a safe and supportive environment to address deeper issues and work towards healing and personal growth.
Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that underscores the significance of present-moment awareness and individual accountability. It focus on the "here and now”, While acknowledging the importance of the past, it also highlights the significance of the present. It encourages clients to focus on their current experiences, prioritising the therapeutic alliance and promoting creative expression as avenues for resolving psychological concerns. The main goal of Gestalt therapy is to empower individuals to reach their full potential by integrating different aspects of their cognitive, sensory, emotional, and affective experiences to effectively navigate present challenges and cultivate resilience.
