My approach to therapy
In my therapy, I focus on you as a whole person—considering your mental, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. My goal is to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and valued. I listen to your concerns, help you reflect on your feelings, and support you in finding your own solutions to the challenges you’re facing. Together, we’ll explore your unique needs and look at the bigger picture of what might be influencing your journey. I may not have all the answers, but I’m here to walk with you as we figure out what you need to live a more fulfilling life.
In our sessions, we’ll work together to shift any unhelpful thoughts, behaviors, or emotions. I’ll offer practical strategies tailored to you, and together, we’ll find what works best. Therapy is a team effort, so I focus on understanding what’s most important to you. I value your feedback to make sure we’re always on the right track.
I like to combine creative techniques with evidence-based approaches techniques to make your therapy experience well-rounded and personal. For example, I use Art Therapy—like drawing, music, or role-playing—to help you express yourself in ways that go beyond words. We might also try Gestalt Therapy, where we use exercises to build self-awareness and work through unresolved issues. I also use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you focus on what really matters, stay present, and manage emotions more effectively.
To give you a better idea of how these methods work, I’ve included a brief overview of what we might explore together.
Acceptance Commitement Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), teaches people to accept and handle their difficult feelings instead of avoiding or overreacting to them. By understanding that these feelings are normal reactions to life's challenges, individuals can better manage their emotions and make positive changes in their behavior. The goal is to build resilience by gaining deeper self-awareness and moving forward confidently.
Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT)
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) integrates talk therapy with behavioural techniques, with a primary focus on reshaping negative thought patterns into more positive ones. The goal of CBT is to enhance individuals' coping skills by replacing negative thoughts with more constructive and adaptive ones. By changing the way individuals think, CBT promotes positive actions and behaviors, equipping them with effective tools and coping strategies to confront life's challenges.
Mindfullness
Mindfulness is the practice of breaking free from the 'automatic pilot' mode that often governs our busy lives. It involves consciously stepping out of routine and taking time to be fully present in the moment. For example, when was the last time you took a brief moment in the morning to check in with yourself and your emotions? Mindfulness encourages us to observe both ourselves and our surroundings without being overwhelmed by future plans or worries. It reminds us that life unfolds in the present moment, and through mindfulness, we can experience it more fully and authentically.
Art Therapy
I believe in embracing creativity as a means of expression, which is why I incorporate Art therapy techniques such as painting, singing, playing instruments, writing, drawing, or role play. These methods provide alternative avenues for you to explore and express your emotions and inner thoughts in a nonverbal way. Through the creative process, clients uncover hidden feelings and insights, and together with the therapists, interpret the symbols and metaphors present in their artwork. This unique form of therapy provides individuals with a safe and supportive environment to address deeper issues and work towards healing and personal growth.
Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that underscores the significance of present-moment awareness and individual accountability. It focus on the "here and now”, While acknowledging the importance of the past, it also highlights the significance of the present. It encourages clients to focus on their current experiences, prioritising the therapeutic alliance and promoting creative expression as avenues for resolving psychological concerns. The main goal of Gestalt therapy is to empower individuals to reach their full potential by integrating different aspects of their cognitive, sensory, emotional, and affective experiences to effectively navigate present challenges and cultivate resilience.
